Upcoming Project:
Sea Turtle Recognition in Zanzibar 🐢

Every sea turtle has a story — and with your help, we can make sure none of them are lost. In collaboration with Xomnia, a leading data and AI company from the Netherlands, we are developing an AI-based sea turtle identification tool that will transform conservation in Zanzibar and across East Africa.

This project will replace scattered Excel tracking with a centralized digital database, using AI to recognize individual turtles from photos. By linking images with GPS locations and key data, we can uncover migration routes, track population trends, and identify areas at risk — giving sea turtles a stronger chance to survive and thrive.

This shared platform will unite NGOs across the region, enabling smarter, evidence-based conservation and fostering collaboration like never before.

👉 We are looking for donors and funding to make this vision a reality. Partners will have their logo featured directly on the app, showing your support for innovation, technology, and marine conservation.

If you want to be part of a project that combines heart, science, and technology to protect these ancient mariners, please contact us at info@thelivingocean.org.
